Sedimentation Rate, Modified Westergren (ESR)

The test is also known as ESR, Erythocyte Sedimentation Rate, and Westergren Sedimentation Rate.

The ESR is a nonspecific test that has been used for many years to help diagnose conditions associated with acute and chronic inflammation, including infections, cancers, and autoimmune diseases. ESR is said to be nonspecific because increases do not tell the doctor exactly where the inflammation is in your body or what is causing it, and also because it can be affected by other conditions besides inflammation. For this reason, ESR is typically used in conjunction with other tests.

No special preparation is required on your part for this test. Expect results in one or two business days.

Please be advised, that our services are strictly self pay and are not eligible for submission as a claim to your health insurance provider. However, you can submit the receipt for reimbursement to many Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts for reimbursement.
